2023-2024 Fundraising
From October 2023 through March 2024 Parkwood Community Club raised $107,500 for pool repairs. In 6 months this was 71% of our original $150,000 fundraising campaign goal. In March 2024, Parkwood Community Club received a $232,000 grant from the Washington State 2024 final Capital Budget for pool repairs. From April 2024 to December 2024, we raised another $11,500. The amount raised from fundraising and the state grant totaled $351,000.
The fundraising effort improved the club’s financial standing so we could take a loan to cover the full pool repair construction costs upfront. Once construction is complete the state grant will be paid to Parkwood Community Club as a reimbursement. The club will repay the loan in full and the remainder will be set aside for the next project. In addition to the pool repairs, we completed necessary renovations to the caretaker apartment, pool entryway, and changing room entrances.
Fundraising
We have had several issues arise with various equipment pieces in late 2025. Issues with the pump were covered under warranty. However, the lighting and hot water heater are not covered under any warranty. Thankfully, the club has funds to cover these expenses, and we still have a nice amount left in savings after these expenses. the club remains financially stable, in part due to all the fundraising we have done. We still have big goals of redoing the parking lot which clearly is showing signs of its age. We are also eager to remodel the shower rooms to make them fully ADA accessible. They are definitely showing signs of their age. A remodel would allow us to better serve our community members
The rummage sale we have had the last two years in a row has been a great way to earn funds to add to our savings, in hopes of being able to get these much-needed projects complete. I have decided to start accepting donations earlier. Perhaps we can have the biggest sale we have ever had. I know the community enjoys these sales, and it allows us to share the club with others as well as raise funds
If you have new or gently used items that you can donate, please call or text me directly at 360-990-1649. I encourage you to share the flyer on social media and with your friends and family. I am looking forward to another amazing rummage sale, and my hope is that we can collect even more donations by starting to collect items earlier.
As always, don't hesitate to each out if you have any questions.
